Happy 4th of July

Ok, first I want to wish each of you in the USA a happy Independence day on this 4th of July 2008. This is my first blog, and I will be here regularly talking about some of our trips that we have taken as well as information in general about the travel industry and what is going on and what is popular.

Today, I am taking a group of 30 or so people to New York City for the 4th of July Fireworks. After doing this the last few years on a boat in the NY Harbor, I decided to be smart and do this on Roosevelt Island which sits in the Harbor and where we can enjoy the festivities without having to shift and turn around all the time because of the currents.

We will leave the State of Delaware today around 3:30PM and head to 59th Street in NYC. We will take the Sky Tram over to the Island where they have 4 bands playing all kinds of music (Calypso, Jazz, Alternative and Salsa) along with lots of entertainment for all ages and a BBQ where our clients can buy their dinner or snacks.

9:00PM will be the Fireworks from NYC (we will be able to see some from New Jersey as well). We will be able to go back in the Sky Tram afterward to see the night skyline before heading home. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be if the new “fountain display” under the bridges started today instead of tomorrow. Guess we’ll have to go back up for that illuminating display.
