Thursday July 14, 2011 Annnarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center
Named for Ann Marie Koenig, this Calvert County, Maryland museum is a unique find. The indoor and outdoor works specifically commissioned for Annmarie are dramatic, ranging from a colorful ceramic gate that welcomes visitors to Annmarie to a ramp that takes visitors up into the trees. Two favorite works, The Council Ring and A Surveyor's Map invite guests into the art to walk on, touch, read, and explore how art and nature complement each other. A Tribute to the Oyster Tonger, considered by many the most important piece in the collection, celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Chesapeake Bay, and the proud watermen who for generations made their living off the resources of the Bay. Sun July 31, 2011 NJ Festival of Ballooning Sunrise Ascension
The Quick Chek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning is the largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in North America and is the premiere family entertainment attraction in New Jersey. The festival truly has something for everyone! We will go for the 6:30AM mass lighted ascensions of up to 125 special shape and sport hot air balloons and stay for headlining concerts, non-stop family entertainment, hundreds of crafters and vendors, great food, fireworks, a balloon glow, and more, the festival is jam-packed with stuff to do.
We will leave at 3:00PM to return unless the AM ascension didn't happen.
